PSALM OF THE DAY

Today is the day to sing: The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power.

GOSPEL

Mt 5:1-12

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

1150 KWKY CATHOLIC RADIO PRAYER

Lord Jesus, You commanded your followers to go out and preach the Gospel to all creation. Your servant Blessed Pope John Paul II proclaimed that “radio offers perhaps the closest equivalent today of what Jesus was able to do with large groups through His preaching.”

We ask your guidance for the ministry of 1150 KWKY Catholic Radio that we may affectively and consistently convey your message to Iowa as well as the Diocese of Des Moines and remain faithful to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church. Empower the 1150 KWKY Catholic radio staff to walk with you and to labor beside you in their efforts.

Inspire all listeners today through the grace of your Holy Spirit to understand more fully your desire for them and through the ministry of Catholic radio, touch their hearts and change their lives. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
