What’s new on Catholic Women Now?

Here’s what’s in store when you tune in to this week’s episode of Catholic Women Now with Julie Nelson and Lisa Schmidt.

This coming Sunday our Church celebrates the last day of the liturgical year, better known as the Feast of Christ the King. Julie and Lisa provide a few facts about the history of the feast, and share how we can celebrate it still today. As you prepare for the Feast, ask yourself the following:

  1. Is Christ king of my heart and my family?
  2. Is Christ the king of my country?

Julie and Lisa are also joined by “the Frans,” two delightful parishioners from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Des Moines. Fran Chiodo and Fran Garneau share their Thanksgiving food traditions. And boy oh boy, be careful — all that talk about Italian food might make you hungry!

Finally, as many of us will visit family over the Thanksgiving holiday, just a reminder to let Psalm 119 be your guide: “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” We are called to be blessings to those around us.

A prayer for thanksgiving from Catholic Household Blessings and Prayers

Lord, we thank you for the goodness of our people and for the spirit of justice that fills this nation.

We thank you for the beauty and fullness of the land and the challenge of the cities.

We thank you for our work and our rest, for one another, and for our homes.

We thank you, Lord: accept our thanksgiving on this day.

We pray and give thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord.
